PRIZE WINNING FICTION

WITH MONIQUE ROFFEY & ANNA WHARTON

21st / 22nd September 2023           Number of places: 8

Costa prize winning novelist, Monique Roffey, will be joining us for one of two writing retreats in our Autumn schedule. Trinidadian-British writer, Monique is an acclaimed writer of six novels and a memoirist. Her book The Mermaid of Black Conch won Costa Book of the Year in 2020, and was shortlisted for three other awards: the Rathbones Folio Award 2021, the Goldsmiths Prize 2020, and the Republic of Consciousness Prize 2021. She is also a professor at Manchester Metropolitan University where she teaches on the Novel MA and MFA. In 2019, Monique also co-founded Writers Rebel, a campaigning group inside Extinction Rebellion.

Come and join us for a writing retreat exploring both fiction and non-fiction which will answer the question of how to weave the issues you care about into your work in progress, how to contain your ideas in a fictional landscape, and how to write novels that matter.
